Privacy Policy

1. Data controller and scope

This policy applies to the Aside app for iOS and Android (identifier it.alechelli.aside). The data controller is Alessandro Chelli. For privacy questions or requests, email me@alechelli.it.

2. Content stored on your device

Conversations, messages, audio recordings, images, links, files, reactions, preferences, and other information created or imported in the app are stored in the local space assigned to Aside by your operating system.

This content is not sent to Alessandro Chelli’s servers. The developer cannot read, retrieve, sell, or use it for advertising or profiling. Aside does not provide developer-operated cloud sync.

3. Device permissions and features

Aside may access the following only when required by a feature you choose:

• the microphone, to record a voice note you start;
• selected photos, to add them to a conversation;
• selected files, to copy them into the app’s local storage;
• the system share sheet, to receive or send content at your request.

You can deny or revoke permissions at any time in iOS or Android settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.

4. Network connections

When you save a link, Aside may contact the website directly to retrieve its title, description, and preview image. The website operator may receive standard connection information, such as your IP address and HTTP data, under its own privacy policy. Conversation content is not sent.

The app may also contact Expo Application Services to check for and download software updates. For this purpose, Expo may process an IP address and technical information such as the platform and compatible app version. Messages and attachments are not included in these requests. 5. Support requests

If you contact us by email, we receive the sender’s address, the message, and any attachments you choose to include. This information is used only to reply, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations.

The legal basis is taking steps at your request and, where applicable, the legitimate interest in providing support and protecting the service. Support communications are retained only as long as needed to handle the request and ordinarily no longer than 24 months after it is closed, unless the law or the protection of a legal claim requires otherwise.

6. Sharing and recipients

Aside does not sell personal data or share content with advertisers or data brokers. When you share content from Aside to another app, you select the recipient through the operating system. Any later processing is governed by the selected app.

Technical providers involved in delivering software updates are limited to what is necessary for that service and must provide protection consistent with this policy and applicable law. Where services outside the European Economic Area are used, the safeguards required by law apply.

7. Security, backups, retention, and deletion

Local data is protected by the operating system’s security controls and app sandbox. Aside does not operate its own remote backup. Any device or app backup depends on your settings and on Apple, Google, or another provider you choose.

You can delete messages and conversations in the app. Uninstalling Aside removes data from the app’s local space, except for copies you previously shared or data retained in a device-managed backup. To request deletion of a support communication, email me@alechelli.it.

8. Your rights

Where provided by law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal data held by the controller, or object to its processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority or your competent supervisory authority. Because the developer cannot access local app content, that content must be managed directly in the app or on your device.

9. Children

Aside is not specifically directed to children and does not knowingly collect their personal data on the developer’s servers. Use by minors remains subject to device and store rules and to parental or guardian supervision where required.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the app’s features, providers, or applicable law change. A revised version will be published here with its effective date. For general help, visit Support.
